Our workroom and design team brings over half a century of knowledge and design to the attention of the contract and hospitality design community. This business is so important that our owner, Steven Mittman, personally manages this business. In addition, we have a spectacular group of project managers, product engineers, and CAD designers on staff ready to work with your team.

Almost 90% of our hospitality work is customized or custom; the specialty of our workroom. Send us a drawing, a picture, or a sketch on a napkin and we’ll make it happen for you.

Finally, we are very extremely proud that our workroom is located in North Carolina. We are a focused LEAN Manufacturing facility, and as such, offer some of the fastest lead-times in the industry. We are an agile and efficient operation and can be your go-to American made resource for every project, and those last minute needs in particular.  That said, the world has changed in the last three years and so have your budgets.  So we also offer excellent flexibility and extraordinary quality from our facilities in Italy, China and Vietnam.  Later this year we will be launching a completely new hospitality brand to focus our efforts on all of your 4-star and 5-star furniture needs.

Send us your ideas…we will make them a reality…and deliver them ON TIME

Urban Front / Steel Reinforced doors

Urban Front 2

Urban Front is run by a young enthusiastic team of designers. Born after a real struggle to find one simple contemporary door on the market back in 2003, Urban Front embodies a passion for high quality doors, materials, design and service. We aim to continually exceed your expectations, develop our product and keep what we do one step ahead of trend, completely innovative and always exceptional. We believe that there is nothing comparable to our doors on the market today and have total confidence in our ability to prove this.

We work on a design led philosophy manufacturing and designing contemporary doors exclusive to us, and sold direct to customers from our workshop and showroom in Buckinghamshire, England.

What is special about Urban Front?

We are proud to be British manufacturers – through and through – with everything made and designed in England.

We manufacture a steel reinforced warp resistant core with insulation ranging between 1.1 and 0.566 W/m2K on the door leaf. In addition, we use high security locks, security keys, high grade stainless steel fittings, and 3D concealed and pivot hinges.

We are the only manufacturer in the UK who make steel reinforced hand crafted solid wood doors and pivot doors up to 2400mm high and 1200mm wide.

We pride ourselves on providing a high level of service working closely with our customers throughout the process. (please read more about our client’s opinions)

Each of our hand-made external doors is registered with the UK Intellectual Property Office, making all of our doors distinctive in design and completely bespoke.

Our doors are known worldwide and are exported regularly direct to the USA, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East to name a few.

On February 13th the NY Chapter of the IIDA hosted its 5th Sustainable Quilting Bee.  The event was formed for several reasons, the first was an attempt to re-purpose the mountains of fabric that the architecture and design industry disposes of yearly. The second, reason was to give a creative outlet and venue for architects and designers to form community. The Bee is held once a month at Herman Miller where the design teams present their work, as it progresses, and work with each other to solve various construction issues. There are experienced quilters as well as those who have never lifted a needle. After 10 months of work the quilts were displayed at The Open House Gallery, and auctioned to benefit The Fiver Childrens Foundation www.fiver.org. It was a great event.

I am thrilled that my quilt “Comfortably Rust” went to Cindy Allen of Interior Design Magazine. I rust dyed scrap muslin, using gears and nails that were found objects. The design was random but I like the traditional feel that the whole piece ultimately has. I have wanted to hand quilt the past entries but upholstery fabrics are problematic. This year using scrap muslin allowed me to hand quilt it and I think that it added to the overall design.
