The Sustainable Design Forum hosted its First Annual Sustainable Quilting Bee in February 2008 to create quilts from discarded and discontinued fabric samples. In the tradition of quilting guilds the aim of this group is twofold: to find new homes for what would have been discarded and to offer an opportunity for community outside of our stressed and scheduled lives. The group of 20 participants met monthly to discuss, critique and assist each other with projects. The IIDA NY Chapter is pleased to have been able to auction 21 quilts since 2008. Proceeds from the Annual Quilt Auctions are donated to local charities.
We decided to put colour back into kids play, but in a unique way. We call this THE RAINBOW COLLECTION. All built from extremely tough HPL (High Pressure Laminate) impervious to almost anything such as weather, water, graffiti and scratching and is of course designed to the highest child safety standards. The collection is built for both indoor and outdoor use and each piece comes complete with its own happy rainbow. These will make you smile. For more info contact: Daniel Tillman | Daniel.email@example.com

Black and White: Always Perfect Together
What’s better than black and white, side by side? Inspired by the black and white landscapes I recently saw in the volcano region of Iceland, this month we take a look at some of our favorite black and white patterns and mix them with complementary textures and polyurethanes. Our high performance graphic patterns Facade and Happiness are bleach cleanable. Points of Light and Mehndi Cryptons resist soiling and are easily cleaned and equally durable. Eureka and Groove are polyurethanes that provide a sleek contrast, easy of cleaning and high performance features. Play up the combination of black and white by adding classic textures: Woodland is a mohair velvet with luxurious hand while its complement Prairie provides a fine scale level loop weave.
