Viya is celebrated for its ‘unique, modern and dramatic masterpieces’ that blur the lines between design, furniture and art
Very thoughtful article on the Met Gala. Worth a read
For most people, the first Monday in May means it is one day closer to summer. But, for the fashion community it means something far more important will happen. The first Monday in May is the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala to raise funds for the Costume Institute and unveil the spring exhibition. Otherwise known as the biggest night of the year for fashion. This year it will take a look at the genius designer/artist, Rei Kawakubo, designer for Japanese avant garde label Comme des Garçons. This is the second exhibit ever for a living designer, Yves Saint Laurent in 1983.
Each year the exhibition allows designers to push their creativity and create looks for their guests to wear to the event. Past years exhibitions; Punk: Chaos to Couture, Charles James: Beyond Fashion, China: Through the Looking Glass and last year Manus x Machina: Fashion in the age of Technology.
